This page outlines the specialized role and operational guidelines of the Pennsylvania State Constable’s Office, Nazareth – Lehigh Valley, in providing secure and compliant custodial transport services for the judicial system and mental health facilities.
Specialized Role & Function
A specialized function of this Office is providing safe, secure, and compliant transportation of individuals under legal or judicial order. Our Constables are trained in specialized transport protocols, maintaining the safety of the individual being transported, the public, and the transport team.
Authority and Legal Basis
Pennsylvania State Constables (and Deputy Constables) are sworn peace officers authorized by state statute to execute arrest warrants and court orders, which includes necessary transport. This office follows strict adherence to all Pennsylvania statutes, court rules, and ethical standards governing the restraint, movement, and dignity of transported persons. All transportation function details are recorded in writing and by video.
Types of Custodial Transport Provided by This Office
Prisoner and Arrestee Transport
Transport of individuals arrested, between correctional facilities, to/from court hearings/medical facilities, or furloughed.
Formal requests may be made by correctional facilities, local/state police, attorneys, or courts for transport services (requires writ or order).
Mental Health Transport (302, 303, 304 Orders)
§ 302 (Involuntary Emergency Examination): Transporting an individual under a 302 Warrant to an approved facility for a mental health evaluation.
§ 303/304 (Extended Commitment Orders): Transporting individuals related to longer-term commitment orders as directed by the court.

Our Office provides professional and compliant custodial transport services for courts, municipalities, medical/health facilities, and similar. If you would like to request our Office provide services on your behalf, please see the following steps.
- 1. Contact Us: Contact our Office using the ‘GET STARTED’ button below, or by phone.
- 2. Required Documents: No transport is executed without a valid, signed court order, commitment order, or arrest warrant (exception: established MOA/MOU with local or state police for transporting arrestees). All paperwork is verified prior to departure to ensure legal compliance.
- 3. Dignity and Safety: All transports are executed by trained personnel with uncompromising attention to safety and security. While prioritizing the integrity of the escort, every measure is taken to uphold the legal rights and dignity of the individual being transported, in strict compliance with state law.
- 4. Costs of Services: All judicial services are subject to payment requirements as detailed by the Fee Sheet of this Office.
